Silver Clay Twig Rings Tutorial - Beginner-Friendly Jewellery Making Project
Capture the organic beauty of nature on your finger with our Silver Clay Twig Rings project.
Each ring is entirely unique. No two are ever the same because you'll be working directly with real twigs, preserving their natural texture in precious metal.
Start by creating a silicone mould from your chosen twig, then use that mould with silver clay to capture its perfect replica. From there, you'll discover three different techniques to form and finish your ring, each suited to your skill level and creative preference. Whether you're just starting your jewellery-making journey or you're an experienced silversmith, there's a method perfect for you.
Choose your Technique
1.Wraparound Ring
Ideal for Beginners
This technique requires no joining making it versatile for sizing and the simplest approach.
Perfect for your first ring.
2.Solid Ring with Paste
Ideal for: Those wanting a solid join without soldering
Create the join between the two ends using silver clay paste. A technique that enables you to create a solid form without solder.
A different approach to finishing your ring.
3.Soldered Ring
Ideal for: Those comfortable with soldering or traditional silversmithing
Fire the ring, then create and solder the join like traditional silversmithing. Perfect if you already have soldering skills.
Bring your existing techniques to this project.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a kiln to make silver clay rings?
No, you don't need a kiln! This course teaches both torch firing and kiln firing methods. Torch firing is perfect for beginners and requires minimal equipment - just a small butane torch. If you do have access to a kiln, I'll show you that method too.
How long does this silver clay course take to complete?
The course includes 16 video lessons that you can watch at your own pace. While the project itself takes 3-4 hours you will need to leave your ring to dry overnight so be prepared to be patient! You have unlimited access to this project with membership though, so you can take as long as you need and revisit the lessons anytime.
Is this course suitable for complete beginners?
Absolutely! This course is suitable for beginner and intermediate level makers. There are three ring making options: a simple wraparound ring, a solid ring created using silver clay paste, and a soldered ring, so you’ll be able to find the techniques to suit your level and setup.
What's included in this project?
You get 16 video lessons, a complete tools and materials list with supplier links, downloadable resources, and unlimited access to the course through membership. You'll also get ongoing support through our community.
Where can I find twigs for this project?
You can find your twigs anywhere outside; you’ll get the best results from twigs with buds, texture and distinct markings.
What type of silver clay should I use?
I demonstrate with Art Clay Silver, but you can use any brand of silver clay (AMC, Prometheus, Cool Tools, etc.).
Will my ring be solid silver?
Yes! After firing, your silver clay becomes 99.9% pure silver. You will have a genuine silver ring to wear, not plated or silver-coloured. It will last a lifetime with proper care.
